Trail / Fishing report

posted on January 11th, 2011 - 8:46AM

Last week we ended up with about a foot of new snow here at the resort. East and west they received more; about 18" or more. We went for a ride yesterday west to Deerton on the Forest roads and back on 417. The Forest roads were great, on most of them we were the first tracks. 417 back to Au Train had some thin spots but was suprisingly good considering there was no snow on them 5 days ago.

I have received improving perch catches compared to past years. There has also been several small 1(about 6") and 2(about 12") year old Walleye caught while perch fishing.

Golden shiners seem to be the hot bait for the pike and walley this year fished on tip ups or dead sticks. I have had 2 reports of perch also caught on golden shiners and tip ups while fishing for pike.
