Trail / Fishing Report

posted on January 5th, 2012 - 11:39AM

We ended up with about 10 inches of snow here at the resort Sunday and Monday this week. Munising and Chatham areas got about 18 inches. Trail 8 was groomed and looked good yesterday. The section of 417 along M-28 looked rough, which is normal with all the wind we had this week. The sections of the trail in the woods are normally much better. The trails are rideable and conditions will vary.

The lake has some really slushy spots near shore. Most of the snow blew off the middle of the lake. The ice was 9-10 inches thick.

Yesterday we fished from noon until dark. We had 3 pike landed one of which was 24 inches and one pike that broke off and it was a big one. Also caught and released a fat 21-inch walleye. All were caught on tip-ups along the drop-off in front of the resort. We also landed 6 walleyes between 10-14 inches. All the walleyes came between 4-6 pm. It was the first day in a week that I had anything other than small perch.
